Here are two nifty tricks to help you expand your Sibelius  selection tool box.To make it really effective open sibelius and try it out straight away – then make sure you teach someone else the same trick within a day or so.

Selecting just the notes you want in a bar

is as simple as command click on a mac or control click in windows.
BRILLIANT!

You can also copy quickly using the alt key

If you have something selected you can point the arrow/caveat to another bar and hit alt  and like magic you notes appear – this is faster than cut and paste.

Hopefully these two ideas will give you even more time to do what you love – writing music. Don’t forget to go and show somebody else.

When you work with Sibelius regularly its easy to forget what it was like starting out-

Here are five tips everyone starting out with Sibelius Notation should know –  best way to learn them is to try them NOW

Escape

Hit escape to escape those floating grey notes.

1.   Escape!

esc up in the top left hand corner of your keyboard will get rid if a loaded arrow and stop all those floating grey notes. In Sibelius 6 there is an unload arrow on the keypad as well.

2.   How to add a note above or below an existing note

If you need to put in a note a third above select the note then hit 3, to get a third below shift 3

3.   R you can use R to repeat a note or a bar or a phrase

4.   Spacebar to start playback

5.   Move a note by an octave -To quickly shift an octave  apple   up or down arrow on Mac or Ctrl up or down arrow on  windows
